About us
ed-k Hubert Kreis is located in Planegg (Martinsried district) on the southwestern outskirts of Munich. We specialize in the development and manufacture of inductance testers based on the pulse measurement principle.
After working for more than 12 years as development engineer in the field of power electronics and as project manager in various companies, Hubert Kreis founded ed-k in Krailling, Germany in 2002. An early precursor model of the Power Choke Tester DPG10 series, the DPG01, was already brought to market in 2002.
In the early years, the company also carried out contract development work in the field of power electronics (e.g., for wind turbines up to 40 kW). The first-generation DPG10 series was launched in 2005. In 2008, the company moved to Planegg because its premises had become too small. At this time, inductance measuring devices were already the main pillar of the company and their development continued.
In the interim, the focus shifted to the development of regenerative electronic loads in collaboration with our affiliated company, Primus electronic systems GmbH. Based on these electronic loads, highly innovative and powerful systems for the burn-in/endurance testing of DC power supplies were brought to market.
Since 2010, the focus has been exclusively on the further development and marketing of the Power Choke Tester DPG10/20 family. Due to the DPG10 series’ remarkable success in becoming a global standard in the development, manufacturing, and quality control of inductive power components, and our continuous growth, further relocations to larger premises became necessary in 2016 and 2024. The spacious new location at Fraunhoferstraße 22 offers us ample room for future expansion.
The assembly, testing, and calibration of our devices, as well as test lead assembly, are performed exclusively in-house.
From the very beginning, it has been part of our philosophy to always offer our customers the best possible service and technical advice. Service, calibrations, and repairs are carried out exclusively in our specialized laboratory at very fair prices. Our turnaround times are exceptionally short, typically only 1-3 business days.

We feel honored that imitators have emerged for the pulse measurement principle we established for inductance measurement. However, through consistent and continuous development, our devices are superior to these imitation products, which we warn against for safety reasons.
We do not use any purchased electronic sub-assemblies. Whether power stage, measurement amplifier, A/D converter or microcontroller board, we develop every single electronic assembly in-house, as this is the only way to optimize it for its specific application. We even develop and manufacture some components with special requirements in-house. For example, commercially available current sensors cannot meet all our requirements for bandwidth, pulse strength, long-term stability, and form factor.
Therefore, our devices are not just at the leading edge of technology, but also exceptionally compact and offer excellent value for money.
