Example 5: VHF choke with ferrite rod core

This diagram shows a VHF choke with ferrite rod core from the standard program of a well-known supplier. According to datasheet the inductance is 120 µH +/-10%, the rated current is 2 A. The inductance of this kind of choke is relatively constant up to the rated current.

The Power Choke Tester DPG10 is helpful especially for dimensioning and testing of self-made chokes with cylinder core due to easy measurement of the saturation current. An accurate calculation is mostly not possible.
